Platinum ARIA accredited independent artist Ziggy Alberts was always a source of hope for people listening, but his newest offering, ‘THE GREAT DIVIDE,’ transferred his calming energy into tangible help for communities faced with the devastating flood events in Australian states, Queensland and Northern New South Wales.
‘THE GREAT DIVIDE’ is a follow-up to Alberts’ previous single ‘TATTOOS,’ in anticipation of a full-length album. Through this song, he continues to explore today’s societal challenges of acceptance, connection, and purpose, all within his quintessential catchy ‘Ziggy’ sound.
The writing of ‘THE GREAT DIVIDE” began years ago, but Alberts finished it up during the worst floods Australia’s seen. It goes hand in hand; the single became an anthem for hope and community spirit. On top of that, Ziggy put a call-out on his social platforms, asking his local community to donate much-needed supplies for those affected, and raised over $40, 000 to aid the relief.
Ziggy Alberts talks about the inspiration behind the track: “I wrote this song to remind people they are essential…. Jobs are essential. You are essential… In this time of need, the people have come back together. This song has symbolically become – at least to me – a celebration of that.”
