The Crooked 45 is a UK rock trio based in Reading featuring ex-members of Attention Thieves, Alex Green and James Harris, with singer-songwriter Sam C Harris. The Crooked 45 have enjoyed widespread support from the likes of BBC Radio, BBC Introducing, Total Rock & were featured as artists of the week by Louder following the release of their debut EP ‘Heathens’.

The band are now back post-pandemic with a brand new single ‘Why Are You Complaining?’. The politically-charged track packs a punch, dropping the listener into an attitude-filled soundscape from the get-go. An anthemic vocal line and big biting riffs compliment a head-banging rhythm, capturing the raw anger that runs through the themes of the track.

The Crooked 45 explain more on the meaning behind the new single:

“How people blindly vote for certain things and then complain when they don’t like the outcome. They aren’t all to blame though, the culture of fear is writhe and politicians continue to outright lie delivering empty promise after empty promise without consequence and using some of the mainstream media as their mouthpiece. Big tech and global powers continue to play a role in politics plus society and anyone who does not follow the narrative is shut down or censored. The song talks about how people are too distracted or uninterested in general to fight for their freedoms, going along with the narrative and falling into what seems to be a new wave of totalitarianism.”

The Crooked 45’s message, attitude and energy align with politically astute punk bands such as The Clash and The Sex Pistols. Brash and bold, the band deliver their message with big riffs, smart, relatable lyrics and catchy choruses that you might hear from the likes of Royal Blood and Arctic Monkeys.

After the band’s first string of sell-out shows, the band recently signed to ‘Marshal live’ and will be heading out on tour from March 2022, proving that this alternative trio are going from strength to strength.
