“Jamaicans pronounce the number 3, tree. This being my third studio album focused on the growth and fruit that came from a foundation rooted in truth,” shares ‘Michigan’s Best Kept Secret,” hip-hop artist Steven Malcolm about his new third studio album ‘Tree,’ out now.
As a musician, it takes a few projects to become comfortable enough in your craft to speak the truth and nothing but the truth. Today described as one of the most influential voices in Christian hip-hop, Steven Malcolm opens the vault and musically processes experiences that shaped him into the person he is today.
The focus track taken from ‘Tree’ is the West Coast-inspired track ‘Summertime’ featuring Jay Way and the one and only Snoop Dogg. Other upbeat songs are ‘Rooftop Freestyle’ and ‘Respect.’ Bringing new flavor into the mix, Malcolm includes two dancehall bops, “Jah Ah De King” and “Fuego (Remix).”
‘Tree’ depicts Steven Malcolm as an artist who can do it all while developing life-altering experiences. He adds: “There’s so much significance that comes from the word. My music has become my legacy, changing the trajectory of my lineage and my family tree.”
