Toronto-based musician and producer, Matthew Bailey, has toured in the bands of some of Canada’s top songwriters, such as Andy Shauf and Charlotte Cornfield.

His character-driven new single, “Diamonds,” blends bedroom and dream pop sounds to imagine the personal and emotional sides of Canadian diamond mine tycoon, Eira Thomas’ life story.

Featuring a saxophone solo by Karen Ng and Ivy Mairi on backup vocals, “Diamonds” follows a chronological arc, jumping through decades of Thomas’ life with each verse. The song’s curious and laid back nature opens up the meaning of its titular refrain.
