“Waiting,” from our debut album, Brood & Bloom, is a song that recognizes the reality of being a touring musician and the toll it takes on one’s personal relationships. It is a paradoxical situation because being in a band with some of your best friends and creating something you believe in is really fun; if it wasn’t, we wouldn’t be doing it. However, you have to push aside relationships in the pursuit of success in this career, and unfortunately sometimes you let people down by doing so.
What makes this all so twisted is that what usually keeps us going is the support of our loved ones. It’s a weird situation where we have to push these relationships aside to an extent to pursue this career, yet we rely on them so much.
The video for “Waiting” is a gritty look at the band while we were touring, with a real focus on the side of touring that we find to be a lot of fun. We borrowed an old camcorder from a band member’s uncle and brought it everywhere the band went for six months, learning that we always needed to be camera ready to capture the full experience.
Our fans shot the video’s live footage, which was important to us as they are a huge part of what makes being in our band worthwhile.
