Having just released their brilliant new EP ‘This Game We Started’ we decided to check in with noyou and chat all about their new record.

Hey, thank you for joining us today. Could you please tell any of our readers that haven’t heard about you yet what you’re all about?

It’s my pleasure! Thanks for having us. We’re noyou, we’re a synth inspired Indie Alternative band from Sunderland, UK. We’re all about bringing the energy, playing some tunes and having a laugh while doing it.

Congrats on your new EP release. How are you feeling about this right now?

Thanks so much! It’s a great feeling for sure. We’ve only ever released singles in the past, so it was great to work on a bit of a larger body of work. The response to the EP has been amazing so far, so we’re absolutely buzzing!

Could you talk to us about the process you have made as an artist to get to this point?

The band started out in 2019 as a sort of solo thing I was working on. Called up a few of my mates to help me play the stuff. Since then the guys have become increasingly more involved, and we now see the band as a group effort. We’ve just been grinding out the singles for a couple years since then and playing wherever will have us.

We’re loving the EP artwork. Could you please explain the meaning behind this?

Thanks a lot! The artwork comes from a good friend of mine, Simon A Visuals. The EP title comes from a lyric in the song, ‘Same Old Story’: “I’m sad to say this game we started always leaves me broken hearted.’ It can represent the feeling of perhaps a breakdown in communication between two people, leading to either an inevitable collapse or a coming together post realisation. The artwork can tell this story in its own way with the figures pointing fingers, then touching fingers as if to say, “We’re both aware this is our own fault and we’re in this together.”

If you had to describe your sound in 3 words which, would you pick?

Cool, Rad, Sad.

Was the process in creating this single different to the other music you have released?

Has listening to any other artist throughout your youth inspired this record?

I think subconsciously, all of our creations are a product of the music we find a home in, in any stage of our life. I try not to let other music influence me too much when we’re writing though. I go through a lot of time listening to no music at all if there’s tracks we’re working on.

What can we expect to see from in the future from you?

More of the same but bigger, better and more adventurous. We wanna expand on what we’re already doing until it becomes an uncontrollable beast that ultimately eats us alive.

Thanks again for joining us today. Any last comments you would like to mention to fans?

It’s my pleasure! Thanks for having us. Cheers to anyone who happens to come across our tunes. Hope you enjoy them.
