Having just released their brilliant new single ‘The Problem’ we decided to check in with The Barnum Meserve and chat all about their new release.

Hey, thank you for joining us today. Could you please tell any of our readers that haven’t heard about you yet what you’re all about?

We are Call to the Faithful and we’re a band based in and around Peterborough. We’ve been going since 2019 and in that time we’ve carved out a reputation of being a kind band who are supportive of the local scene, put on high energy performances and stick up for the broken people this rubbish government have let down.

Congrats on your new release. How are you feeling about this right now?

We are very excited about our latest release, we sold out our single release show and have been featured on some great playlists/podcasts and mags. If feels like there’s a real buzz about the single, we’re happy!

Could you talk to us about the process you have made as an artist to get to this point?

The process has been challenging. There’s a lot of self reflection invovled which is fairly hard. We find that as musicians you have to be honest with yourself and the rest of the band members. If something isn’t working, or something needs improving we have to act fast and make changes in order for the band to work properly. On tour we had refined each nights shows so that we could put on the best performance possible, learning from the show previous to bring in new ways of performing. We also now have a manager, Lauren and she has been instrumental in helping us work on areas that we were lacking in, particulary social media. As a band, you also have to be content creaters to keep fans insterested and engaged. Lauren has really helped us with keeping us on top of that. She’s also intruduced us to some great people and bands which helps spread the news about CTTF further! We also think about our merch more, we are making sure all of our new merch is more than a shirt with our band name on it, merch has to be stylish, we want people to like the merch, even if they don’t like our music! we are unrecoginsable from the band we were in 2019 and I’m glad we are

We’re loving the single artwork. Could you please explain the meaning behind this?

So the photo is taken from our of our live shows, and we think its a great shot of our front man Matt and it looks like he’s being authoritive which works well with the song. We thought “the problem” “sounded” green, so we have made the Problem a green themed song….

If you had to describe your sound in 3 words which, would you pick?

Energy, angry, fierce

Was the process in creating this single different to the other music you have released?

we followed the same process we usually do. Oscar came to us with a main riff, chorus and some lyircs. He played that to us, Will and Ethan then worked on a beat and rhythm – worked our what weird and wonderful pedals crearted the noises we were after and started playing it live. We had some great responsesd to the song live, so we went to the studio and recorded with Jake Day and Northacre studios! He’s a very talented lovely guy, everyone should check him out

Has listening to any other artist throughout your youth inspired this record?

We all grew up with a huge passion for music. And although we all have a similar taste, the nice thing is we’re all into different bands which does help mould our inspiration. This song in particular reminds me of some early RATM. More recently, songs like This Town by FCATRS have played a big part in inspiring us musically and themeatically.

What can we expect to see from you in the future?

Coming up we have a summer of gigs and festivals, we have some new material to start working on and recording and we hope to release an EP which will feature some existing songs but also some brand new singles which we are all excited for!

Thanks again for joining us today. Any last comments you would like to mention to fans?
