Rich, sweet, and lush with vibrato: These are only a few of the unmistakable qualities that constitute Evangeline Gentle‘s fervent timbre. Make no mistake, however. They are more than an accomplished voice –their songwriting possesses authenticity and depth as rare and unique as their own journey.
“You and I“ is the preludial a cappella opening song of Gentle‘s live show, and its message seeks to unite audiences with a sense of sameness. Our deepest connections are found through vulnerability which is why they felt compelled to sing this track completely unaccompanied.
“Black is the Colour“ is a traditional Scottish folk song that Gentle first heard as a child growing up on the North East Coast of Scotland. Despite moving to Canada at age 11, their love for Celtic folk music persists and performing this song feels like sharing another bit of who they are.
