Freddie Nelson is a rock artist, guitarist, singer, songwriter, and producer from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania who just released his newest single “Hey Doll” off of his album Shake The Cage. Inspired by bands like Queen, Muse, My Chemical Romance, The Killers, and The Beatles, Freddie came to international attention in 2010 when he collaborated with virtuoso guitarist Paul Gilbert (of Racer X and Mr. Big) on the album United States.
Fast forward to 2017, Freddie has his album that we mentioned above, Shake The Cage, due July 7th.
“The record is called Shake The Cage, because I feel that a lot of music has become one dimensional with tools such as pitch correction and formulated songwriting. There is no substitute for hard work and honing your craft, and it’s time to challenge mediocrity,” says Freddie
And Freddie truly did put hard work into his craft. All of the writing and producing was done by Freddie as well as all of the musical and vocal performances, with the exception of drums. Listening to the album, you’ll hear eleven rock songs that expresses Freddie’s vocal ranges. But listening to “Hey Doll” alone, you ultimately get the feel for the album’s rock sound.
“I let my instincts guide me,” Freddie explains, “and this album is the result of living in the moment.”
