Guitarist for Legendary Band Releases Fourth
Rock / Country / Americana Solo Album — Sonic Tunesmith

Singer/songwriter — guitarist of legendary rock band Brownsville Station — Billy Craig wants to be “With You” today.

So goes the sentiment on the Detroit-area artist’s latest single off his fourth full-length studio album, Sonic Tunesmith — available now!

The track falls in line with the rest of the album, boasting gritty rock, edgy country, plus a twist of folk and pop… In other words, Billy Craig’s signature sound.

“A recurring picture in my mind throughout the recording of this album has been a blacksmith pounding away in his shop which is what I felt I was doing,” says Craig on the album’s creation. “That’s when I came up with the title for the album Sonic Tunesmith.

“I worked very hard on this album to take it to another level for me.”

The result is an 11-track musical tome, speaking volumes both figuratively and literally as to where Billy Craig, his music, and career continue to evolve. “I decided to take these songs into the studio with no expectations,” he shares. “I thought, ‘if it turns into something I like, maybe I’ll release it and people will like it.’

“I do like it, my fingers are crossed.”

It looks like he can relax his hand a little; having taken to stages across the country — both solo, as a member of the legendary rock band, Brownsville Station, and special guest to the likes of Boston, Ted Nugent, and Eric Burdon to name a few — it’s no surprise critical acclaim continues to pour in. Craig’s music has been featured on the TodayShow, Nashville’s WSM, and across radio airwaves nationwide. The alt-country rocker is also bolstered by hometown love in his beloved Detroit; he has been featured on Channel 4 WDIV, The Mitch Albom Show, WCSX’s Overeasy Show, WYCD’s The Coop Show, and featured work for Country Radio Hall of Famer Dr. Don of WYCD, Detroit’s Country Radio.

“My favourite place to be is knee deep in the creative process,” says Billy Craig. “And trust me… I pushed everything to the limit on this album.”

He’s not kidding; Craig found himself back at the drawing board, scrapping much of his progress at one point. “I was three-quarters of the way finished and I went to see Jeff Beck in concert and came home and redid a lot of tracks over the next two weeks,” he recalls. “I wanted to dig deeper and find a zone from a guitar standpoint.”His mission is accomplished, and then some.

Sonic Tunesmith and “With You” are available now.
