Australia’s premier fun-filled rock group, Furnace and the Fundamentals, are back and all about the holiday spirit with a Christmas version of the Village People’s party hit ‘YMCA’ to celebrate this special season.

The band described as “humanity’s most exhilarating dance party” have turned their talents to reimaginings of staple songs as the festive season rolls around. This and a re-working of the anti-establishment protest song ‘Killing in the Name’ are the songs we have in advance of the highly-anticipated album, A Very Furnace Christmas. The video for this track sees this lively lot playing the piano and decking the halls as they re-work the original lyrics into a more Christmassy style, singing “let’s have some fun ‘cos it’s Christmas today,” instead of the usual chanting of “Y-M-C-A”. It’s a wonderfully silly cover which injects some much-needed fun into the run-up to Christmas number one.

The fun-loving band are capping off a huge 2019, which has seen them play to over 20,000 people at the British Grand Prix in Silverstone, headline London’s Electric Ballroom and play to packed crowds at festivals across the UK and Europe. Back home in Australia, they easily sold out the 2,000 capacity Enmore Theatre in Sydney and have been announced for the main stage of Lost Paradise Festival on New Year’s Eve.
