London singer/songwriter Salt Ashes follows up previous single ‘Body Says’ with a new electrifying single ‘Didn’t See It Coming,’ The songstress spoke about it embodying her toxic take on a love song.
Salt Ashes explains: “‘Didn’t See It Coming’ is my f*cked up version of a love song. It’s how an unexpected love managed to pull me away from a way of life I thought I wasn’t ready to leave until they slapped me in the face… metaphorically, of course.”
Love flows in the air and latches on you when you least expect it. As Salt Ashes puts in, it usually blinds our judgment until we get metaphorically slapped in the face. The beginning ‘Didn’t See It Coming’ has the creeping escalation of what falling in love could sound like.
Its pulsating beat paired with Salt Ashes’ soft vocals create introspective electronic/dance music with a dark, disco-esque flair. Since her debut in 2014, the artistry of Salt Ashes has been highlighted by The Guardian, DIY, Wonderland, Billboard, MTV, Clash, Line of Best Fit and NOISEY.
